Variegated Algerian Ivy is an easy-to-grow and fast-growing evergreen vine that trails, climbs, and cascades. The glossy, triple-lobed white leaves on this variety appear as though they’ve been brushed with green paint down the centers. Great for use in landscape borders and adds the finishing touch as a spiller plant in container gardens. Can also be grow year round as a houseplant.

Growing 6 to 8 inches tall and trailing to form a dense carpet of evergreen foliage, Variegated Algerian Ivy is ideal for use as a groundcover in landscape borders and as a soil stabilizer on embankments, hillsides and slopes for erosion control. Its vines cling to and climb brick, stone, wood and other walls with porous surfaces to create a “live wall.” Excellent for use as topiary or a spiller plant in pots, hanging baskets, window boxes, planters and other containers that can be situated indoors or outdoors.

Suggested Spacing:  18 to 24 inches for mass plantings

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Ivy plant is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring. 

Variegated Algerian Ivy is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average to low fertility and shade or part shade. Avoid direct afternoon sun. Afternoon filtered sun is okay. Established plantings are very drought tolerant. Does not like constantly soggy or wet soils.

Caution: Ivy plants can be invasive so make sure to control their spread when growing near woodland areas.
